Career Summary
Martin has worked in pensions for 27 years and has extensive experience across the UK sector.
Following a solid foundation in leading life office and consulting practices which concentrated on pensions legal, contractual, and project management areas, he set up a niche company specialising in dispute resolution in the capacity as founding Director.
Martin then moved to a major UK life office where he focused on risk management for pension liabilities working for both schemes and sponsors involving buy out and buy in transactions. He has worked with pension clients in the following areas: operational and governance reviews; reviews of scheme management and supplier management; internal audit co-sourcing and support; benchmarking, and risk management.
Martin's experience also includes subject matter expert (SME) support for group internal audit (GIA) on the largest bulk annuity deal written in the UK market to date, reviews of its BPA operations and contract terms. He has also provided SME support for GIA of a niche bulk annuity provider and for GIA of a major closed life office.
Martin is a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute and is MBA qualified and can therefore combine pensions expertise with clear business insight and understanding.
Martin is a reviewer on the CMI's panel for management research papers and for the Management Book of the Year Awards. Martin also mentors new TPAS Advisers. Martin is also an Independent Trustee Chair for a UK DB Scheme.
